My leading global technology client is currently looking for a 3GPP Specialist to join their team based in London. You will provide expert support to strategies and telecoms technology development as required in the 3GPP Radio Access Network (RAN) area, with a particular focus on developing radio link protocols and procedures for mobile communication networks and contributing to the work of the 3GPP RAN2 Working Group.

Key skills and Responsibilities:
  • Competent in leading Mobile packet core network solutions for projects with small to large scale, complying with 3GPP standards
  • Leading the research in radio link protocols and procedures of 5G and 6G as related to ongoing and upcoming 3GPP Releases, with focus on input to standards
  • Finding and breaking into new key technologies. This would include proposals for future product development, and the potential to lead new innovation in standards.
  • Leading pre-sales or technical work streams for creating, analysing and business reporting of MVNO RFI/RFP offerings in the areas of EPC and Network services.
  • Producing artefacts such as HLD and LLD documents, presentation, and technical Diagrams as part of project engagements.
  • Recommending vendor products for use by the business by authoring RFP’s, carrying our technology validation activities in vendor labs, scoring vendor proposals, and producing reports
  • Produce detailed documentation on hardware and software to consult in feature availability and performance with internal stakeholders and vendors.
  • Ensure successful compliance for all business requirements by contributing actively to design, testing and provisioning activities such as design workshop, test planning, Review of MoP’s, etc. 
Must-Have:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Natural Science, and Mathematics, or any other related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in telecommunications research/standardisation/development, with considerable experience in the relevant working group (3GPP RAN2) and preferably with experience working as an active participant in standards, preferably as a delegate in RAN2 (or a related Working Group).
  • Deep understanding of distributed architecture of service provider, Packet core network platforms from leading suppliers such as Cisco, Samsung, Nokia, Huawei, and Ericsson including, 3G, 4G, 5G SA and NSA architecture.
  • Strong understanding of 3GPP standards for various Mobile technologies. Leading the research in radio link protocols and procedures of 5G and 6G as related to ongoing and upcoming 3GPP Releases, with focus on input to standards
  • Finding and breaking into new key technologies. This would include proposals for future product development, and the potential to lead new innovation in standards
  • Knowledge and understanding of various protocols used in Packet core network.
  • Good understanding of hardware and software performance and scaling limitations
  • Act as a solution expert and ensure solution documentation is up to date
  • Solid understanding of business process and open to international travel.
