Risk & Internal Controls Specialist - Amsterdam
Hybrid: 3 days in the office

I am currently working on a senior level search for a Fortune 500 Retail/Luxury Fashion Brand who are looking to hire leadership/management level talent in their Risk & Internal Controls function. This is a new team build and a very exciting time to join the organisation as you will be part of their Foundation. You will get that chance to build from scratch and work innovatively in their 2nd Line function.

Responsibilities:
•Own and lead the design, implementation, documentation, and ongoing monitoring of our internal control framework, ensuring compliance with both US and Dutch GAAP and US PCAOB / SOX standards
•Work with cross-functional teams to develop policies and procedures that strengthen internal controls, mitigate risks, and support financial and operational integrity.
• Conduct regular walkthroughs and testing of key financial and operational controls
• Collaborate with external auditors and internal audit teams
• Serve as a risk and compliance advisor for Finance, IT, and other departments
• Deliver timely and comprehensive reports on internal control activities and audit findings
Requirements:
• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration
• Professional Certification: CPA, CA, CIA, ACCA, or equivalent certification preferred
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in audit, internal controls, or risk management,
with a strong understanding of SOX and familiarity with COSO frameworks
• Technical Proficiency: Experience with ERP and reporting systems
• A self-starter with the capacity to work independently and anticipate control needs, proactively driving initiatives and improvements with limited oversight
• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
